Their formation story:
(Darby McCormick, vocals)"The three of us (guitarist Josh Armand, bassist Ryan 'Turbo,' and I) have been close friends for a while and meet up each Sunday to play poker. I hated the state of Shreveport's'hardcore scene' and felt it was being steered in the complete opposite direction of what hardcore really is. Shitty people who didn’t know the first thing about hardcore putting 'hxc' in their Instagram handles or claiming their band was hardcore because it was gaining popularity.
"In one of these poker games, I was airing out my grievances and talking about how badly I wanted to start a band to show my city what hardcore really is, so we all decided to start jamming together, and eventually, we picked up Zach (Reed), our drummer, after he came back to work at the tattoo shop (Ghostfire). We needed a place to practice and play shows, so that’s how the all-ages venue Ghostfire Tattoo in Shreveport came to be (thanks, Dad). Things have just grown so quickly since then."
Their sound in their own words:
"Pure, classic hardcore. There are way too many influences to name, so many bands and people have shaped our sound and style. A lot of our style comes from New York hardcore, maybe it’s because being from Shreveport, it was all shit we could relate to. Some of our biggest influences are Backtrack, Incendiary (shoutout Long Island), Scowl, Ten Yard Fight, and Have Heart."
Latest release info:
"The Demo really tells the story of my life after being exposed to 'the real world.' From an angry teenager filled with grief and hate, learning how to use that hate for good and positive changes in the world, and channeling it into inspiration, not letting emotions control me, not letting others have significant influences on my feelings, and keeping the discipline to stay fucking positive. Throughout my life, reclaiming the happiness and positivity that were stripped away from me is a fight I will never lose."
Future plans:
"We’re always writing and creating new shit. There’s a lack of good music out here, so we’re just trying to fill that void. We already have a ton of shows lined up for this year, and several releases planned. Our biggest goals right now are to have as much fun as possible and put on for our scene in the process, all through expressing our creativity."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Shoutout Hag, Hole Opener, Face Off, Decoy, and Frog Rider. There are a lot of good bands in our area, but these five are pushing our scene in the perfect direction."
