Straight out of the birthplace of the godly Deftones comes Natural Selection, a new hardcore band that just came onto my radar via their 2017 demo. "Choke It Down" is the second cut off the group's aforementioned demo and kicks off with a mid-paced instrumental section that warns of the oncoming riff fest. Around the 30-second mark, things speed up and Natural Selection go for the throat.
There's moshy stuff, thrashy stuff, and a crowd-baiting part towards the end that undoubtedly goes over gangbusters when the band plays it live.
