Earlier this year, No Echo included Recollection in our list of 12 Newer Hardcore Bands to Check Out in 2026, and the quintet continues to prove why they're one of the scene's most compelling emerging acts.
The band has announced its new EP, Intrusive Thoughts, due out August 28 via DAZE, and has also shared the title track and an accompanying music video.
Originally formed by vocalist Josh Hynes (Rude Awakening, Hammer Bros) and guitarist Joshua Long (Skinhead, Criminal Instinct, Rude Awakening, Hammer Bros) as a way to process the loss of a close friend, Recollection has steadily expanded its sound beyond traditional hardcore. Rounded out by bassist G (Hammer Bros, The World), drummer Snooka (Life's End), and guitarists Matt March (Hard Ca$h) and Joe Bradshaw (Stab), the band blends hardcore roots with melodic, emotionally driven songwriting.
The four-song Intrusive Thoughts EP explores different stages of life and personal growth. The title track, which features guest vocals from Cherish Hynes, tackles anxiety, obsessive thinking, and self-sabotage through jangly guitar melodies, candid lyrics, and memorable hooks.
Discussing the song's meaning, Hynes says:
"'Intrusive Thoughts' is about being in a relationship and not being able to avoid self-sabotage. Once you have a thought in your head, it's next to impossible to get it out, leading to obsessive overthinking to the point of affecting sleep patterns and everyday life. All of this fault inevitably falls back on oneself."

The forthcoming EP was produced and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit, with additional tracking by Eric Sauter at Black Heart Sound. The EP will be available on vinyl and CD, with the CD edition also including a remixed and remastered version of Recollection's 2025 debut, Vivid Dreams.
