The folks at Ipecac Recordings have just announced Savage Imperial Death March, the forthcoming collaborative album from Melvins and Napalm Death.

Despite the shared billing, Savage Imperial Death March is not a split release. Instead, it’s a full studio collaboration featuring members of both bands working together across the entire album. The record takes its name from the groups’ joint tours in 2016 and 2025, but this marks their first full-length release under the combined moniker.

The album was recorded at the Melvins’ Los Angeles studio, with guitarist/vocalist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover joined by Napalm Death’s vocalist Barney Greenway, bassist Shane Embury, and guitarist John Cooke. The first track from the record, “Tossing Coins Into The Fountain of Fuck,” can be heard below:

“I have loved the Melvins forever and their outlook on music,” said Embury. “A chance to make an album of eclectic musical madness with them was truly an honour and a whole lot of fun.”

Osborne added, “Napalm Death are one of my favorite bands ever. It was truly a 50/50 partnership.”
