With a discography that stretches back to the '90s through his work as a member of Current, Ottawa, and Calvary, Matthias Weeks has appeared on No Echo numerous times in the past. His current band, Wrong War, has also been featured around these parts before, including today.
Featuring Weeks on vocals, drummer Dan Smith, guitarist Patrick Keenan, and bassist Dave Pawlowski, the outfit formed in 2019. Their sound is informed by the Chicago and Detroit scenes they came up in, also tipping its hat to the melodic yet angular post-hardcore that made Dischord Records in the late '80s and early '90s.
Wrong War is gearing up for the release of a split LP with Compulsion, a fellow Chicago-based group that features other stalwarts from the hardcore scene there, including ex-members of the mighty Charles Bronson.
Check out a track from the Wrong War side of the split called "Comfort Or Aid" that delivers that Revolution Summer-like vibe that is always welcomed on No Echo:
"This song is about the engineered injection of poison into neutral ideas in service of power or a malicious cause - something we all need to identify and actively reject," says Matthias about his lyrics to the new track.
The Wrong War/Compulsion split LP will be out on September 6th via Council Records (pre-order).
