Originally formed in 2023 as a studio-only project between longtime friends, Barcelona crossover thrash band Machete Law quickly shifted gears after early interest led to live offers alongside underground acts like Foreseen and Pest Control. “Shortly after releasing that song, we got several calls to open shows, so we decided to start doing live shows,” guitarist Victor Blutwurst explains to No Echo. What began as a one-off recording idea has since evolved into a fully active band with shows across Spain and even a recent run in Japan.
Musically, Machete Law sits at the intersection of hardcore punk, thrash, and death metal, pulling influence from bands like Leeway, Cro-Mags, Demolition Hammer, Power Trip, Strife, and Vio-lence. The result is a sharp, aggressive sound rooted in crossover tradition but delivered with a modern intensity. Their songs tackle a range of heavy themes, from inner struggles to political corruption, war, and economic instability—topics that reflect both personal and global tensions.
The band recently dropped a new single, “Gunfire Ritual,” taken from their upcoming EP, Liturgy of Violence. The track features a guest appearance from members of Japanese thrash band FASTKILL, further highlighting the group’s growing international reach. “Our lyrics cover topics like inner struggle, social issues, political corruption, drug and war conflicts,” Blutwurst says.
Machete Law have also just wrapped recording their second EP, continuing to build on the momentum from their earlier demo and 7” release. While they’re currently seeking a record deal for the new material, their focus remains on getting the music out and hitting the road as much as possible.
Back home, Blutwurst says the Barcelona scene is slowly regaining strength, with bands like Eight Ounces, L’irreal Omega, and Public Intoxication helping to push things forward. As for Machete Law, 2026 is shaping up to be a breakout year. Fresh off their Japan tour, the band has also been confirmed for Barcelona Rock Fest, sharing the bill with heavyweights like Megadeth, Testament, and Loudness.
“We are ready to hit any country,” Blutwurst says. And with new material on the way and a growing international presence, Machete Law looks poised to do exactly that.
