Band: Slip to Dust

Their formation story:
"The band got together when Jon was pestering just about every musician in Memphis to start a hardcore band. Not one with him in it, he just wanted there to be a new band in the scene. The band Aaron did vocals in at the time was winding down, and he thought it’d be fun to play guitar, so he said he’d do that if Jon played bass.
"Jon immediately knew that Matt would be on vocals even though he’d never been in a band before. Matt turned out to be a natural, so he was locked into that position. They tried out a few drummers and finally asked Greg if he’d help them out. Playing with Greg felt like playing with someone who had been in the band since day one, so it was a no-brainer that he was their drummer. Just like that, Slip to Dust was a band."
Their sound in their own words:
"As far as our sound goes, we hope we continue the rich history of heavy and hardcore music that Memphis should be more known for. From Raid to Clenched Fist to Dead City to Copwatch to Reserving Dirtnaps, we are trying to meet the standard of both speed and brutality that those bands that came before us set.
"The Memphis sound has always been similar to the old school NYHC mixed with the stylings of the New Orleans sludge scene. So if you like the hardcore pillars of Madball, Hatebreed, Death Threat, and Blood for Blood, Slip to Dust will fit naturally into your playlist."
Latest release info:
"Our latest, and our only release so far, is a demo. Just a small taste of our sound. We’re working on getting into a studio and getting some professional recordings out to the public."
Future plans:
"We’re constantly writing new songs. We’re always down to play shows and hoping to hit the road at least a couple of times this year."

"There are a number of bands we would like to play with or play with again here in the midsouth, like Enchanted, Muzzleflash, and Zashed in Arkansas, Rules of Engagement in Nashville, and right here in Memphis, we’d love to play with Ritual Fog, Amphora, Anemoia, Koroded, and any band Brody Climber and Drew Miller are involved in."
