Band: Gaspack
From: Bend, Oregon
Their formation story:
(Garrett Judkins, drums/noise): "Sonny (guitars) and I wanted to branch off from our other project FØES to create something that was less exhausting to play live, as well as music that is slightly more focused. So after jamming with another project here in Bend, Oregon called Hello Traitor, I messaged their bass player (Mackenzie) to see if he was interested in jamming with us and he showed up with all our demos memorized, playing them almost flawlessly.
"We invited him to join the project and he accepted. One place in the band left unclaimed for a few months until I was hit up by a friend of ours from California, who recommended a Eureka, California transplant Izabella Hilsee (formerly of the band Vexed) for the vocal spot.
"I reached out and she agreed to come out to our jam space/studio in Sunriver, Oregon lovingly dubbed the DOOM ROOM. After brushing off the cobwebs, we began vibing and the lyrics she was writing gave us all the confidence to ask her to join the project as well. She accepted and after much deliberation we decided on the band name Gaspack."
Their sound in their own words:
"Our sound is laced with the stylings of hardcore punk, power violence, grind, D-beat, beatdown, and slam. Our influences individually reach far and wide, but for this project I would say Weekend Nachos, Gulch, Full of Hell, Endless Swarm, and Ceremony, just to name a few."
Latest release info:
"Our demo drop is just that, a self recorded rough demo of some of the tracks we have written so far. We wanted to get something out that showcases our trajectory and rawness wrapped in a healthy helping of realness.
"The lyrics reflect the true inner feelings of Izabelle and the traumas survived by women at the hands of men and the patriarchal society that we endure here in the USA."
Future plans:
"At this moment, we continue to record the music we have written, while grinding rehearsal in preparation for shows in the springtime. We plan on throwing a release party in Bend, OR as soon as weather and time permits. Oregon, California, and Washington are on our radar as far as some short touring opportunities go."
What other bands from your region should we check out?
"Some other bands that we love from the Pacific Northwest are Dry Socket, Misery Whip, BoltCutter, Tolls, Weapon World, Slime, King Yosef, and, of course, FØES."
