Band: Crime of Passion
From: Boston, Massachusetts

Their formation story:
Derrick (bass): "Noah (drums) and I are both play in The Greying. Susie (vocals and guitar) has been a frequent collaborator with the band and we really just wanted to do something sonically different with her.

"We definitely knew that we wanted it to be punk and hardcore adjacent project but weren’t exactly sure how we wanted to tap in. Susie came with the song that became 'Original Sin' and the direction felt right. We were jamming as 3 piece for several months. We brought Nick (guitar) in pretty recently to round out the lineup."

Their sound in their own words:
(Derrick): The '90s grunge and alt-rock influence is pretty evident but I’d say we’re primarily taking influence from bands like Quicksand, Glassjaw, and Poison the Well."

(Susie Donovan, vocals/guitar): "The albums I listened to a lot while writing these songs were: Sunny Day Real Estate's How it Feels to Be Something On, Fleshwater's We’re Not Here to Be Loved, Nirvana's In Utero, Jawbreaker's Dear You, Embrace, Rites of Spring, and Fugazi's Repeater."

Latest release info:

(Susie): "It was recorded by Steve Colwell at Swamp Light Studio in Lakeville, Massachusetts. Our demo was the first thing I’ve written in almost two years that I actually felt was worth listening to. I’ve finally come out of a writing/creative block phase and it feels great; I’ve really honed my writing style and found out how to stand out sonically.

"The thing I’m most proud of is that I feel there’s something here for everyone to enjoy. Heavy parts, catchier/ more melodic parts, harsh and clean vocals, emotionally powerful lyrics - that’s what I love and appreciate most about my favorite bands."

Future plans:
"We have a second release slated for January of 2026. Aside from that we just want to play as many shows as possible. As of this moment our first show is slated to be 12/20/2025 at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Low Tide, The Blind, Peacebreaker, PocketKnife, Alchemy, Uponbrokenapologies, and Jealous Mind. Also keep an eye out for a new band from Maine called Satiate."
