Band: Comply

Their formation story:
(Brooke, vocals): "I met Ben (guitars) in college and quickly bonded over a shared love of hardcore, metal, punk, and screamo, and formed a friendship. A few months later, we decided to collaborate on a skramz project that Ben had conceived; however, we needed to find a bassist and a drummer. Coincidentally enough, around this time, Ben ended up moving into an empty room in Nolan’s (bassist) apartment, which just so happened to be a five-minute walk away from me.
"The three of us quickly bonded over our music tastes and had an overall camaraderie. For a while, we were sitting on these ideas of what Comply could be, but it was truly impossible to bring to fruition without the right drummer. After a few trials over the course of a year to find our sound, we were introduced to our current beast of a drummer, Isaiah, who had just moved here in September after graduating from Berklee. We all ended up hitting it off both musically and generally, and our chemistry as a band finally felt perfect, which has definitely been reflected in our live shows."
Their sound in their own words:
"We are heavily influenced by Converge, Botch, Vein.fm, and many more. We really love that '90s early metalcore style, which is quite apparent in our sound. We like to tie in influences from many different sub-genres of heavy music as well, whether that's having some riffs that are a little death-inspired, adding a slam part to a song, or even some mathy embellishments. As long as it's heavy and a little different, it is Comply."
Latest release info:
"We just released a 3-song EP called Built to Bleed, which ended up being a bit of a concept release. We had this idea of a man attached to a machine that’s just keeping him alive– he has no dignity or control over himself, just an inanimate object doing his living for him, it's visceral really. We all combined our feelings of heartbreak and loss of control, and really channeled those emotions into these songs, which is what fuels our art. "
Future plans:
"In these upcoming months, we plan to write more and release some songs by the end of the summer (we already have a few in progress!) We also plan to keep playing as many shows as we can with bands we love, and even hope to put together a tour."
