Band: Chrome Cage
From: Whyalla, Australia
Their formation story:
(Liam Anderson, guitar): "I moved back to the Eyre Peninsula after living in Adelaide for nine years. I wanted to start a Whyalla-based band with friends and had somewhat of an idea of what style I wanted it to be. Gathered the troops, started jamming and Chrome Cage was born."
Their sound in their own words:
"Metallic hardcore? Death metal-influenced hardcore? Metal with hardcore tinges? Metalcore? One thing for certain is that it’s WHYALLA FUCKING HARDCORE.
"I guess some of my influences writing the riffs would have to be Bolt Thrower and Entombed. I definitely have been inspired by stuff that isn’t necessarily projected in the music such as Turmoil, Cro-Mags, I Killed the Prom Queen, Ministry, and Gojira."
Latest release info:
"We have a four-track demo out now on New Ethic Records. Really keen for it to be heard!"
Future plans:
"At the moment it’s getting this demo out and hopefully start playing a couple shows here and there. We’ll probably look to record a couple more in the not so distant future."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Impede from Whyalla. They are definitely worth checking out. [Chrome Cage guitarist] Ryan [Skinner] is also in a few other bands locally, Exhuminator and Seek Misery, if you prefer something heavier! Mid coast crew, Bolt Cutter. There can only be one, Winnerz Circle!"
