Their formation story:
"Brainlock officially formed in 2025 after Nathan and Mike Bidwell relocated to Florida. Shortly after the move, we wrote and recorded our first EP, The Lower It Goes, which we eventually released in February 2026.
"Around the same time, we connected with Gabe from Merauder, who was helping revive Kingside Records. Brainlock became one of the first bands to officially join the label’s new era."
Their sound in their own words:
"Our sound is very nostalgic, but we also try to keep it fresh and current. We’ve got everything a hardcore kid needs — two-step parts, ass beaters, and some good old stage-diving tunes — all in E standard.
"We pull a lot from newer crossover bands like Mindforce, DRAIN, and Dead Heat, while also taking influence from classics like Sacred Reich, Suicidal Tendencies, and Sepultura."
Latest release info:
"The Lower It Goes... ended up being really therapeutic for us, especially after moving to Florida and coming from much heavier bands previously.
"We wanted to shift the vibe a bit, stay in E standard, and experiment with different sounds while still keeping things heavy and fun. We’re also really stoked to be working with Kingside Records on the release."
Future plans:
"Right now we’re focused on writing our second EP for Kingside while booking more shows throughout Florida with our labelmates. We’ll also be playing SOB Fest alongside bands like Merauder, Chain Gang, Shattered Realm, Bayway, and more. New merch is also on the way."
