Self-described as a "metal/hip-hop/hardcore" group, meet Throwlight out of Southern California.

The members of the combo have known each other since childhood, but things got cooking when underground rapper Rocom, learned that his high school friends, Kevin Betz and Chris Ellis, were starting a metal band, he entered the fold to front the endeavor. Throwlight was truly locked in when Rocom's longtime collaborator, King of Somewhere, joined the lineup, introducing his synth sounds into their sound.

Throwlight's debut single, "Back Down," will hit streaming outlets tomorrow (September 13th). The track was was produced by Paul Miner (Death by Stereo, Zebrahead). “'Back Down' is about our relationship to media and technology," says Rocom. "It's a constant fight to find truth when ads and social media are clouded in misinformation and political agendas.

"After hearing the riffs written by our guitarist Chris, I wanted to start a band influenced by my favorite sounds from hardcore tracks from the early 2000s. “Back Down” reflects the frustrations of being glued to our screens that constantly tell us how to live."

The new music video for "Back Down" was directed by Sam Shapson:

Throwlight are currently working on their debut album, so stay tuned to their Instagram page for updates.

The band will be playing the Glass House in their backyard of Pomona, California on October 25th on a bill opening for Norma Jean and Cancer Bats (get tickets).

"Back Down" hits streaming outlets tomorrow (9/13).
