Sound and Fury takes over Los Angeles this weekend, bringing hardcore fans from around the world to Exposition Park. If you're coming in from out of town—or you're local and looking to venture beyond your usual spots—we asked Andrew Kline (Strife, Berthold City, WAR Records) to put together a guide to some of his favorite places to eat, grab coffee, and dig for records around L.A.

COFFEE
Zomu Coffee (Burbank)
A hardcore-owned coffee shop tucked inside a pottery studio in an industrial pocket of Burbank. Some of the most creative drinks in the city, and usually a familiar face or two from the local scene hanging around.
Note: Closed Fridays and Saturdays. Order the Pandan Short and Sweet.

Heavy Water (Chinatown)
Another hardcore-owned spot with great drinks and a beautiful courtyard. They share a space with vegan bakery Baker's Bench, Cassell's Hamburgers, and Perilla. Worth the trip for the whole block alone.

If you like sweeter drinks, the Totoro is the move.

Apollonia's (Mid-Wilshire)
Frequently called the best pizza in Los Angeles. Open Wednesday through Sunday in two split shifts. Cash only. Check the hours before you go.

Quarter Sheets (Echo Park)
My personal favorite. Detroit-style pizza with a sourdough crust and crispy edges. Reservations are tough to get, but you can order ahead and eat outside. Always worth it.

Located at ROW DTLA. James Beard Award-winning chef Chris Bianco is widely credited with sparking the modern artisanal pizza movement. Enough said.

Upscale vegan Italian. Scratch-made pizza and pasta that can go up against anything non-vegan in the city.

Little Fish (Mission Hill)
Co-owned by Niki Vahle of Cosmic Joke, Little Fish serves one of the best fish sandwiches in the city. They may be vending at Sound and Fury, but stop by the brick-and-mortar if you need another one after the fest.
