Band: Regress
From: London, UK
Their formation story:
(Marcy, vocals): “Honestly, just a bunch of people involved in the hardcore scene. Loz (guitarist) and I have known each other for some time and got talking about starting a heavy hardcore/beatdown band in the style of Ninebar, Bun Dem Out, bands on Rucktion Records, etc.
“We started reaching out to people, Eddie joined in on drums, got Raina in on bass and then finally Lucas on guitar.”
Their sound in their own words:
“Heavy hardcore, the London way.”
Latest release info:
“We’ve been gigging with these songs for a year now, just happy to get it out finally. Lyrics-wise, I wanted to put as much meaning in the lyrics as possible. ‘Reaper’s Grip’ talks about a hatred for rich show-offs and how they waste money, but in the end, they still end up dead like the rest of us.
“‘Soaked in Betrayal’ was written by our friend Joe, who was originally meant to be our second vocalist, about feeling like your life is being wasted. ‘Until The End’ is about standing together against the systems of corruption.
“‘Too Young, Too Soon’ about losing friends at a young age and not spending enough time with them before they passed. ‘No Trends’ feels pretty self-explanatory [laughs].”
Future plans:
“Next step is to look for a new guitarist. Unfortunately, Lucas is heading back to the States. We’re pretty gutted, but stuff happens.
“Once we get a new guitarist, we plan on booking shows for the early summer and writing new music, and to not take a year again to release something [laughs].”
What other bands from their region should we check out?
“Some of our friends’ bands to check would definitely be Headstone, Mashaal, King Street, Lowlife, and new ones to look out for will be Make Way and Impermanent.
“Also, gotta shout out some of the other projects members are involved in: Agency, Mutagenic Host, Bullet, and Christian Carpenter. London style forever.”
