Band: Death Roll
From: England, UK
Their formation story:
(Tom, guitar/vocals): "Death Roll initially started as a 2 piece with just Lee (drums/vocals) and I. We went to school together but moved in different circles of friends. As we got older we would bump into each other at different things and would speak about getting together to make some music. We finally did that in 2022.
"We worked on some songs for a while but ultimately decided we needed a bass player and the 2 person hardcore band didn’t work for us. We both knew Fred (bass & vocals) from town and knew he played the bass. So we sent him over 6 rough recordings we had recorded on a phone and he learnt them straight away.
"From there, we started writing more and more, got played on national radio with a song we recorded in 2023 and don’t plan on stopping."
Their sound in their own words:
"We are all influenced by a ton of different bands and styles of music. If you were to ask me who influenced me, I’d tell you it was Depeche Mode that made me want to pick up an instrument. But ultimately we all love hardcore and punk rock and that’s the driving force and sound we want to play."
Latest release info:
"Our recent EP is a collection of songs we have written over the past year. It’s 6 hard hitting songs that showcase our broad style and influences. We recorded it over 3 days with our friend Sammy at Shred Mountain."
Future plans:
"We are playing Attitude festival in Bristol this October. We also will be appearing on a compilation that’s being put out by some friends of ours at Things Happen Here. This will be out on vinyl on September 27th. A link can be found on our Instagram page. The EP will also be out on vinyl sometime towards the end of year.
"After that, we plan on playing as many shows as we can and pushing this release as much as possible whilst also working on songs for the next EP that we aim to have out within the next 12 months."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"So many great bands in the south west of the UK. Sneer, Papa Lima, Hellwigs, Cast Courts, Tendrils, Cold Showers."
