The Third Kind: Members of All Out War, Bastard Clan Go Crossover on “Sole Mission”

Before I tell you about The Third Kind, let's get their lineup out of the way first. The New York city band is comprised of drummer Brian Shonen (Bastard Clan, ex-Awkward Thought, On the Offense, Run Like Hell), bassist/vocalist Richard Muller (Vise Massacre, Great Planes, The Last Crime), and guitarists Taras Apuzzo (All Out War, Bastard Clan, ex-Strap Hangers) and Mike Gordon (Big Gunz, Shiro And The Raw Dogs). That's a lot of discography to be had between those dudes!

Now that I've gotten that taken care of, I can tell you that The Third Kind formed back in 2015, forging their talents to write a kind of crossover thrash that brings to mind the classic era of the style back in the late '80s. 2018 saw the release of the group's self-titled debut EP, helping to spread their sci-fi-obsessed lyrics and groove-driven riffs to the underground music community.

Next month, The Third Kind will be releasing their first full-length record, Man vs Earth, and No Echo has the premiere of one of its opening track:

Engineered by The Third Kind guitarist Taras Apuzzo at the band’s home studio in Queens, Man vs Earth features cover art by Richard Muller and Frankie Accordi, and layout/design by Apuzzo:

Man vs Earth will be released on black vinyl LP and all digital platforms on June 26th, and can be pre-ordered here.
