Formed in the wake of the passing of New York Hounds’ Simon Santana, Loosey began as a way for vocalist Fizzy and guitarist Michael Rekevics to process loss and turn it into something celebratory. That spirit still drives the band, even as they’ve grown into a live draw known for blending glam stomp, power pop, and punk grit into something immediate and infectious.
Writing about Loosey on No Echo back in 2023, Freddy Alva described the band as "playing tough yet melodic street rock 'n' roll with heartfelt vocals, righteous riffs, and a tight rhythm section." Some of you might recognize vocalist Fizzy from his appearance on the track "Clocktower Place" from Haywire's 2024 For Better Or For Worse EP.
Loosey are gearing up to release A Retrospective: 2023–2025, a collection that pulls together their early cassette material alongside new tracks. Due out in early May through the folks at TKO Records, the release serves as both a snapshot of the band’s rapid rise and an entry point into one of New York City's most exciting bands today.
Today, No Echo is premiering the music video for the track “We See We,” a song featured on the forthcoming compilation that taps into something more vulnerable beneath the band’s high-energy exterior.
“‘We See We’ references the precarity and vulnerability of intimacy,” vocalist Fizzy tells No Echo. “Allowing another access to you is allowing access to your salvation or destruction. In the words of Oscar Wilde, ‘Yet each man must kill that which he loves.’ The video just compiles footage of early Loosey forays featuring familiar faces and hijinks of our early years.”
To celebrate the release of the new collection, Loosey will be going out on tour this summer with Los Angeles punk outfit Generación Suicida. The dates are listed in the tour poster below:
If you're in New York City, Loosey is playing a record release show on May 8th at Union Pool in Brooklyn on a bill that will also feature Early Grave and Seeley-Jurgens Band.
