Band: Unreal

Their formation story:
(Logan, guitar): "I started truly working on riffs and song ideas that would evolve into the tracks on our demo during the winter of 2024/2025. A fair portion of it was written during my reading week while I had a fractured index finger which made writing a bit more tricky. Conner (Reality Denied) and Nate (Sunnycide) initially helped with collaboratively fleshing out some of the song ideas.
"The songs were written with the intent of making a band around them, particularly with Jayne as a vocalist as the two of us had been openly speaking about forming a band for over a year. Around the late winter/early spring I asked Will to play in the band, and he provided some help with the song arrangements before we set out to record the demo - shoutout to Bad Brandon of Wild Side for facilitating Will and I's friendship, which was essentially born out of the three of us working together during many a sweltering day in the summer of last year.
"The final recruit to Unreal was Matt, who we asked to play drums on the demo and our first show, figuring he was too busy to join because he already plays in three other bands, but he decided to join anyway!"
Their sound in their own words:
"I would say it's pretty straightforward hardcore music, borrowing influence mostly from forerunners in the genre such as Think I Care, No Warning, Outburst, Freedom, etc. Naturally, we also sprinkle in some influence from punk, metal, and crossover where appropriate."
Latest release info:
"We just released our three-track demo which was a blast to make. We DIY'd everything, tracking all instruments except the vocals at our jam space in Niagara and it was a blast to work on together despite the incinerating temperatures inside the building where we practice - truly a testament to the love of the craft.
"This was one of the first times I've tackled recording, mixing, and mastering a full-band project with the intention of releasing it, so it was super fun and I learned a lot along the way.
"Shoutout to Davis (Weakness, AHOF) of Schoolhouse Studios for the valuable insight on the mastering process, and shoutout to Be About It Records, Destiny (Iron Crusaders), and Kaelan (Iron Crusaders) for their support and assistance with releasing our demo."
Future plans:
"We're going to play a handful of shows in southern Ontario in the coming months. As of writing this, we're only a few days away from our live debut which is exciting. We also plan to hit the studio in a few months and record some more songs to follow up the demo."
