New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Crucify

Photo: Zane Daniel

Band: Crucify
From: Dallas, Texas

Their formation story:
(Liv Martin, vocals): "Back in October 2021, our drummer Ian and my older brother Olan passed away. Losing our brother pushed us towards the scene that he loved so much and the people in it. In November 2021, us and a few of Olan's close friends came together and formed Crucify.

"Since then, we’ve released our first demo and played a few shows, with every set dedicated to our brother and best friend, Olan Martin."

Their sound in their own words:
"We’d best describe our sound as a mix of our favorite elements of '90s hardcore/metalcore and modern-day hardcore. We pull a lot of inspiration from War Hungry, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Merauder, and Helmet."

Latest release info:
"Our latest and only release (so far) is our 2023 demo. Our demo includes an intro track, 3 original songs and a cover of our brother Olan's band, The Kinky Bastards."

Future plans:
"We plan on releasing a full-length/EP later this year. We’ve got a few cool shows coming up in the DFW area the next few months and hope to start branching out to other scenes soon."

What other bands from the region should we check out?
"A few local DFW bands that we love are Ozone, Harcourt, ScrapeTX, Pulse, Force of Will, Gagging Order. and Ballista. We owe so much to the DFW scene and would shoutout all the bands in it if we could."
