Band: Lake Verity
From: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Their formation story:
(Grace Craig, vocals): "We all met through the Pittsburgh hardcore scene. For a while we threw around the idea of starting a metalcore band, but we didn't really follow through until earlier this year.
"We all went to the Ephyra Showcase together and were so inspired by the bands and the scene as a whole. The entire weekend kept saying to each other, 'we have to do this band ASAP.' A week later, we got together and wrote a better part of our demo in one night."
Their sound in their own words:
"Metalcore, old-school metalcore worship, moshcore. I'd say some of our biggest influences are On Broken Wings, Eighteen Visions, early Underoath, Prayer for Cleansing, and early Avenged Sevenfold."
Latest release info:
"The first thing I can say about our I Behold in Visioned Reverie EP is how proud we all are of it. It's definitely one of the things I'm most proud of. I wanted to put a lot of myself into these songs.
"I talk about my experiences as a trans woman, mental health and suicidal thoughts, and the anger I feel about the countless queer lives that have been taken by bigotry. I wanted to write something that meant something to me, and could hopefully mean something to someone else."
Future plans:
"We're about to start working on our next release, so we're going to be putting our full attention into that while playing as many shows as we can."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Cemented in Fear, Pain Clinic, Arc of Violence, Underneath, and Princess. Pittsburgh on top."
