Band: First Impulse

Their formation story:
(Steven, guitar): "Same as a lotta people lately—I was stockpiling riffs and songs all throughout 2020, I told Eva she should give vocals a shot since she's been a fan of punk/metal/hardcore her whole life, and when I ran into Martin outside during a Rotting Out show at The Midnight Hour, I had to lay it on him.
"Martin and I met a few years back, and running into him again was fuckin awesome. I missed him and knew we should do something together. Derik and I have been homies for years, playing, recording, and writing together for multiple projects. When duty calls we usually have each other's backs if we need it."
Their sound in their own words:
"I can only speak for myself here, but what I wanted to capture with this project was all the heaviest qualities from the power violence and metal bands I love, and mash it together with elements of hardcore. Fast and chaotic. I wanted people to hear everything heavy inside of 90 seconds, give or take.
"As far as bands, as I was listening to while writing I guess I can say: Trap Them, Nails, Criminal Instinct, The Exploited, Extreme Noise Terror, Nomads, Driller Killer...the list goes on."
Latest release info:
"It's 5 songs, under 10 minutes long, and hopefully a little bit of everything that's heavy. Eva is showcasing her vocals for the first time as well as both English and Spanish lyrics. Lyrically, I know it's a huge negative outlet. It's fuckin therapy so just let all the bad out. Have to make a huge shoutout to Andrew Solis and Deadstare Audio. The dude is a genius when it comes to tracking/producing aggressive music. He knows what you're thinking before you even finish saying it."
Future plans:
"We're hoping to record a couple new tracks, keep the train rolling, and just have a good time. Everyone in this band is pretty busy in their personal/work/music lives so it's usually gotta be months out when we try and book a show. Derik and I are constantly writing/demoing for ourselves and other projects, we also play in a punk band called Vintage War, and Martin has been grinding in his other projects—shout out Desmadre, Cross Control, and No Bragging Rights.
"When we get a chance to play, we just wanna tear it up and leave it all out there, and prepare for the next one. Big thank you to Nothingless Booking and Hoodcore for getting us on some shows."

"So many bands in LA right now, everyone is killing it. Shows are back in full force and I try to hit as many as I can. I feel bad making a list and leaving anyone out but the first that come to mind:
