If you're looking for a newer band specializing in '90s-styled chaotic metalcore in the same spirit as Harvest, Time's Up, and Disembodied, look no further than Vatican. The Savannah, GA quintet's "Paingod" is a dynamic piece of songwriting, with plenty of rhythmic shifts and layered nuances to keep you on your toes. The guitar work is particularly of note here. Every riff, harmonic, and melodic run begs for repeated listening, and the schizophrenic vocal tracking also comes up huge.
