HEAVYHEX: Long Island Post-Hardcore Band Celebrates Debut LP w/ Hometown Listening Party

A large crowd of passionate music fans crammed into Ruby Soho’s taco shop in Lindenhurst, New York Thursday night to celebrate a highly-anticipated release.

The Long Island-based post-hardcore powerhouse HEAVYHEX debuted its first full-length record, True to You, the night before it was officially released today (May 3rd).

HEAVYHEX swiftly gained popularity after its formation in 2020 for their ability to blend hard-hitting yet melodic guitar parts with gritty and gut-wrenching lyricism drenched in nostalgia.

Since then, the band has been building a dedicated following with several releases including the Stare EP and singles “Give Yourself Away,” “You Can’t Stay Here,” and “True to You” and a captivating live performance, sharing stages with the likes of Silent Majority, I Am the Avalanche, and Militarie Gun.

Packed with raw emotion, the 10-song LP delves into the “realm of personal struggles, societal issues, and the demand for equality,” according to the band’s Bandcamp. The album was recorded in collaboration with Defeater’s Jay Maas.

Local vendors came out to show their support, including Windows Down Photo Zine, Vic Carrature Photography, Massless Creation Inc., Eric Finneran Woodshop, Day Zero Collective, Francis in Chains Jewelry, Eric Montalvo, and Years Go By, Still Fly Vintage Finds

In addition to the music and the vendors, the band also collaborated with 27A Brewing Co. and Ruby Soho’s to create their own True to You Pilsner and HEAVYHEX Taco:

The celebration continues for HEAVYHEX with two record release shows: One at Massapequa VFW on May 25th with support from Spite House, Dead Last, Last Laugh, and High Reach, and another on May 26th at Bridge Nine Records with support from Spite House and The Promised End.

HEAVYHEX is Daniel Lukach on guitar and vocals, David Gastiaburo on vocals, Cody Hermann on bass, Jeremy Gardiner on guitar, and Michael DiLello on drums.
